Technological Solutions – Water Reuse
One of the technologies enabling water reuse are membrane bioreactors (MBR), also known as membrane bioreactors.
MBR technologies are biological reactors that combine biological processes and membrane technology in the same phase. This means the treatment of activated sludge, where the secondary clarifier is replaced by a membrane system.
MBR consists of two main parts:
In addition to meeting the most stringent regulations, it can be reused for irrigation or washing. Thanks to the use of membranes, there is no sedimentation in the biological tank.
The MBBR solution is an ideal system for treating wastewater from commercial, institutional, or industrial buildings, where fluctuations in flow and concentrations of organic load in the effluent are common.
It is a biological treatment system where plastic bio-carrier is added to the reactor to increase its biomass density, the culture is fixed to the filling which is suspended in the mixed bath, thus no clarification. decantation for those flakes that separate from the filler is required. The reactor is continuously supplied with air bubbles, which mix with the content and aid in the aerobic digestion of microorganisms. This improves its ability to remove impurities from wastewater.
This way, the construction is more compact, with better performance and greater reliability, allowing the volume of the reactor to be reduced compared to conventional solutions.
