Usage

The AZK device is designed for dewatering primary and stabilized sludge or mixed sludge for wastewater treatment plants with a maximum capacity of 1,000 PE.

Device Description

The device is a compact unit – a cabinet measuring 1×0.5×1.4 m, made of stainless steel class 17, in which special hydrophobic bags are attached.

After adding polyflocculant with a dosing device, the sludge is led to the top of the device, from where it flows into the attached bags. The sludge is captured in the bags and excess water is drained back to the inflow of the wastewater treatment plant through a waste pipe. To prevent overflow, the device is equipped with a float switch that turns off the inflow pump when the AZK unit is full. Filled bags are moved to a free drained area using a handcart, where drying is completed by evaporation to 20-40% solids.

The thickened biological sludge at about 15-25% solids can be used as fertilizer in agriculture or in forest stands, provided the conditions of applicable legislation are met.

The AZK equipment consists of:

• The actual AZK thickener
• Sludge pump P1 (Q=3.5 l/s, H=6 m, P=0.9 kW)
• Polyflocculant dosing device including a 50 l storage tank
• Electrical cabinet and automatic control

Cleaning Efficiency

With the AZK device, up to a 50-fold reduction in the volume of dewatered sludges can be achieved. These parameters represent a high standard in the field with low operating costs and easy operation.

Placement conditions in case of fixed installation (can also be used as mobile)

• Place on a jointed surface with drainage near the WWTP
• Position in a structure to prevent freezing
• It is recommended to have a water supply connection in the structure
• Store filled bags on a drained surface, either roofed or covered
